Yeh you can hear it splutter when I take the plug off. Then it will splutter/missfire if you rev it unplugged.

But does it run like a dog when unplugged? ie a noticable difference?

Check inside the induction pipe. This may sound stupid but it was true ask whittie  When he had his XE it kept randomly loosing power and eml randomly came on and off. Upon closer inspection there was a piece of plastic floating around in the induction kit and kept getting sucked up against the AFM causing an insufficient flow of air

I would imagine that if the AFM or Lambda were on the way out you would be getting some rough running issues.

Whilst the engine is running, unplug the AFM sensor and see if the car stalls...if it does then that suggests the AFM is OK.

Need to check to make sure the plugs wired up properly then. At worst, you'd get code 12.

The codes don't flash - Bugger :|

Don't guess, read the codes and know for a fact LOL

Flashed the codes fella?

If it flashes on and off I would start by checking all sensor plugs for perished wiring / dodgy pins etc

Randomly coming on when accelerating hard or pulling away. Doesn't seem too be acting too differently. Sometimes feels like it's holding back though? Smells like it's running rich - What can cause this.

It only comes on for a few seconds at a time, then goes away again.

Gut feeling is AFM? Lamba is about 10k old. Need to check and replace see if it goes away. Engine is standard spec except Induction kit, Powercap and Exhaust. Late type Dispac engine out of 93-Calibra.

Any guesses??
