sometimes the exhaust gasget on the join from the manifold to the middle pipe will squeek when the engine twists on load

i had an annoying squeek on mine for ages. does it do it when setting off if you drop the clutch a bit quick. i tried for ages to find out what it was on mine and it was the drivers side mount. you cant really tell unless you take it off. they wouldnt pick it up on a normal servic

Hmm never thought about engine mounts either lol. It's due a service soon so guess best ask the guys take a look at a few things for me.

Only does it when driving but it's not a metallic squeak as such. Really hard to describe, everything works as normal.

Not getting any abnormal vibrations through the car which might relate to engine mounts going or anything either.

if it does it when you select gears and press the clutch when standing id say gear linkage. if its when you driving and it squeeks when you put your foot down id say engine mounts.

Gearlinkage/Clutch cable

Shame because the gearbox feels good, better than any other Corsa B I've driven (i.e. not a sloppy piece of shite lol) - was gobsmacked when I picked it up compared to last Corsa as gearbox felt like a nice new cars one would instead of notchy and generally Vauxhall rubbery wank lol

If it's gear linkage, am I likely break it anytime soon do ya reckon? Expensive fix? As I aint no mechanic :) Cheers.

No.

If it's happening when you are changing gear then it'll be your gear linkage. You might want to replace the bushes in the linkage or just try giving it a grease up and re-build...

Cambelt was done @ 75k apparently. It's on 91k nearly now.

If I blow it up it's deffo XE time lol spent too much on it to throw away.

Why do you think it's cambelt related Whittie? Never would have thought of that myself lol

When was the cambelt last changed?

Car: 1999 Corsa Sport 1.6 16v

Problem:

If I change gear quickly, I get a bit of a "squeak" from the engine bay, cant think of a better way describe the sound. It aint super loud or long but only if you're changing quickly. It only did it going into third but recently started doing it in most gears.

If I'm changing slow and steady its fine.

Everything feels ok, gearbox feels fine still positive etc. Clutch bites a little low though so wondering if it's on it's way out? Doesn't slip in gear though.

Get a bit of release bearing noise when you depress the clutch but it's done it since I've had it...

Any ideas? Should I be worried? lol :)
