Try and find a second hand set of steinmetz or dbilas throttle bodies, modify the standard cams or change them for aftermarket ones if you've got the funds, fit a unichip and obtain 152ps like I have on mine ;) That's the cheapest route for +45ps (N/A) that I can think of!

A turbo will always be better ie lower revving=last longer, more air will get in+fuel=more power. But don't forget heat management!!!

wasnt there someone on here that had a turbo C16XE was for sale recently? how much power and torque was that making??

It would be like putting an XE against a Let

Now that would be a good test.

NA and a Turbo'd X16XE round a track and 1/4 mile.

I'd like the NA to win

Reliability wont be an issue, if everything is built to last. High revving NA's can be just as unreliable.

And with a decent amount of a boost, and a right sized turbo, the turbo'd engine would be fast, much faster imo. Its not just the power that'll help, 200+ lb/ft torque comes in handy too.

Theres a turbo'd 1600 16v on mig, with not what you'd call a huge spec. A suitable spec yeah, and thats making 252bhp.

For track use, NA is a good option. But for road use Turbo is better in my opinion.

i find a turbo'd x16xe so much more appealing than a 2 litre conversion. Its not done very often and i expect you can get good power and torque. Plus you get the lightness of the engine which makes it handle lots better than a corsa c20xe.

Its just the cost that isthe problem and if you try todo it on the cheap, they can be very unreliable.

the 1.6 turbo FTW :D

about 250bhp is the max you can get without turboing but we're talking over 10 grand

As Andy and others have said, Dave A and Broster had throttle bodies to get higher figures but it is expensive to go that route

But that's a discussion for another day.

I have a 2000 1.6 16V sport. What is the most power that can be obtained from this engine? What parts need fitting and how much money will it cost to get the most power of this engine?

I have searched amd couldn't find much.

Thanks chaps
