Best thing to do is to just get a C16XE ecu, if the x16xe ecu is immobilized (which it most probably will be) it won't run without the matching keychip, transponder and ecu.

Any idea how much BHP I'd be loosing if I left the old 1.4 ecu on?

it will run fine on a 1.4 ecu but wont be a powerful as it would on a 1.6 one

Can any one tell me if there is a difference in the x1.4xe (JS ecu) and x1.6xe (JT ecu) ECU's?

I've just fitted the 1.6 GSi engine into my 1.4 16v shell, it runs fine on the old ECU, but I haven't driven it yet.
I have a 1.6 ECU but that wont work. (think its from a modle with built in immobilizer/ key transponder?)

Is there any need to get another ECU?
