A new gasket, with the bolts torqued correctly is fine.
Gasket sealent is annoying, makes a mess, lol.

Gasket sealant helps though as the first time it slipped about an hour after and started leaking quite badly.

You dont need gasket sealent, thats what the gaskets there for.

I dont think the inlet would cause a noise like that tho.

Yeah did that. Sealed it with gaskent sealant as well.

There is a pipe that has nothing attached to it underneth the inlet manifold which may have something to do with it. Small rigid pipe an inch long then 90 degree bend and a further 2 inches, bout 5 mm thick. I'll post a picture up tonight.

Dont think it will be a gasket as it only starts ticking after roughly half an hour.

did you fit a new gasket when re-fitting inlet manifold?

a ticking noise that increases with acceleration is common on the x20xev...... usually caused by the exhaust manifold gasket being broke, or poss a hairline crack in the exhaust manifold.

sounds like gasket to me anyway, did you use a new one and tighten it up to the proper torque settings?

Its really strange, in the morning it doesn't make the noise, only after 20-30 minutes of the engine running so maybe the oil pressure now I come to think about it. Still strange though.

I've noticed after replacing my rocker cover gasket, fu**ing the thing up casuing a bigger oil leak and redoing the job each time I've took the inlet manifold off and put it back on there's been a ticking noise, once I got rid of it somehow but now it's still doing it. The more revs the more it ticks. Like them muli-coloured plastic things on the spindles of a kiddies bike as the wheel turns. There's plenty of oil in the car but do you know how I can get rid of the noise? I'm sure its somehow to do with the inlet manifold.

Thanks, any advice appreciated
