you should be fine with that. do you have the chip for the key and the immobiliser ring to go with the 1.6 ecu?

thank you for this information andy and all the information you give me the other night!! that is good news, because the loom on the car at the moment has red and white plugs, and the 1.6 ecu I have found has red and white plugs!! soo all should work??

as i tried explaining before the colour of the plugs is not if its a 1.4 or 1.6 ecu. if you have white and red plugs at the moment you need to find a 1.6 ecu with white and red plugs or else you will have to change the wiring to one with plugs on that matches the plugs on your new 1.6 ecu or it will rev limit at 4000 rpm due to it being a different knock sensor circuit.

Ecu plugs are the same but the map for the management is different. I run a x16xe ecu on my x14xe for about a year. Slight noticable improvement in power. I also done it to ensure the ecu worked properly befor fitting my new engine. You can run a x16xe on a x14xe ecu but it'll be running very slightly lean. Which long probably isn't a good thing.

Why are you wanting to fit a x16xe ecu? Have you changed the engine? etc. etc.
Why have you bought a loom? Was the old one no good?

plug colours mean nothing.

its the 4 letter codes that are the things you need.

late ecu's were identical (But obly very very few)

get the 4 letter code off the ecu and i will tell you what they are for.

hi just wondering if my ecu from my x14xe is the same as the x16xe cause i read that some uses the same management? the codes on the ecu or D96017
the other one 16214239

also my ecu at the minute has white and red plugs sooo if i found an x16xe ecu with red and white plugs it should fit, right??
