They have a flow rate chart which might help you.

I recon X18XE or X20XEV injectors :)

opel in EPC wrote std clearance for z18xe 0.02 to 0.04. z18xe pistons are short, shorter than c16xe's (0.01-0.03)
short piston shouldn't has big clearance, difference in clearance between c16 and z18 is caus of piston material in thic case

measurement from the centre of the gudgeon pin to the crown on a z18xe piston is 24.1mm , and 28mm in c16xe. difference is 3.9mm (don't forgot piston is 0.6mm lower than block surface) =3.3(5)mm= half of stroke
difference between stroke c16 and z18 is 6.7mm

@Dave clearance You wrote is for forged pistons in turbo engines

what about head advice?

anyone got the measurement from the centre of the gudgeon pin to the crown on a z18xe piston?

small clearance!

most clearances for pistons is around 0,07-1mm, depends on the ring gaps I suppose.

i bought c16xe in very good condition with about 150 000km (~94 000 miles)
at first i was not thinking about that kind of modification, but few times when i looked on the Mantzel www side, i saw last stage modification of c16xe. that's how it was started
i've found one corsa (on the web) in France with that stage

yep big stroke doesn't like very high revs. i think engine would not need higher than 8000rpm or even 7500

bore is 80.5mm with cylinder/piston clearance 0.04mm

all my pics are in the first post

Whole engine is c16xe only crank shaft and pistons are from z18. z18xe pistons are shorter than c16xe, so now pistons are 0.6mm lower than block surface. this pic show this

fuel pressure will by std, provided that std isn't to little

ecu remap is obviously thing

multiple bodies or itb are the plans for future

i believe You can understand me, i know i'm doing many mistakes:mad:

exellent work, I looked into doing this but decided to stick with the 1600cc rather than increase the throw on the crank and the increased stroke may not like the high revs.

keep us updated, what did you bore the block to in mm?

ive yet to see an engine on a standard lower inlet make any more than 161. (a mates nova with mantzel, 270+ cams, omex, headwork, proper manifold and exhaust system) and that was a very very good engine.

Was that with a standard sized throttle body?

Still, a 50/60bhp gain over stand with the standard throttle body/part inlet is a very good result indeed.

I assumed he would be using proper management, seems completely pointless to do all that, then just run it on a std map.

To be fair, i dont see the lack of multiple bodies be a cause for much of a power loss, a well designed plenum setup with a single tb can be as effective and probably give more torque too. As long as the tb size doesn't cause a restriction.

get some proper management on their and 160 bhp will be a good target.

all that spec and no tb's will be the limiting factor on power figures plus you will still have the massive lack of lower down power (under 5000rpm)

cream injectors, i think blue would be too much IMO

I looked into the c16xe head onto the z18xe crank and pistons setup but the pistons would protrude about 2mm out of the top of the block.

how did you get around this? spacer plate?

Oh, and provide plenty of pictures and power figures ;)

use C20XE ones, with a remapped ECU, that should work for you.

i'm just finishing my little project c18xe smallblock (rebored c16xe with z18xe crankshaft and pistons) but have a few questions.
I have mantzel style intake, 56mm throttle body (50mm std), 264degree schrick cams, 4-2-1 SuperSprint exhaust manifold and then 2.25 rest of exhaust

which injectors should I looking for? from c20ne, xe or anything else?

rev limit will be at 7500 - 8000rpm. i expect max190hp but it is very optimistic power, 170 will be nice

what kind of head job should be done for this setup??larger inlet runners, bronze guides? std valves will stay on their place
