cheers will try gonna clean icv at weekend and try look at all air intake hoses etc at back of engine aswell

sounds like my 1.4 wen one of the wires to the map sensor broke, have a look around the plug for the map sensor as there is not much play in the cabling

not lambda changed that sensor first ........... could the icv cause it to mis fire it does stick occasionally at bout 1.6k while idling to junctions etc and did stick at 2k once in car park at work .......... where is speed sensor?

i had this the other day struggling on idle and not starting. it was a sensor not plugged into the TB think it was the speed sensor

i have similar problem but doesnt cut out just very lumpy on tick over and is drinkin far too much during tick over was told its the valves ones jacked but............. no noise's like u'd expect just a mobile tune up guys say so and he's been wrong before £180 to get done cant afford it if he's wrong...... any suggestions ?

same problems as mine had it on the machine and it came up map sensor and icv but changed both and it still does it so given up and got a 1.6 engine :lol:

Could be the vehicle speed sender...
That causes the problems you mention.

icv on a x14xe is on the throttle body underneath at the back but is a bitch to get to mate.Best taking the throttle off itself and i dont think theyre cheap brand new tbh.

1. when it gets below 1500 revs cuts out
2. when slow down for junctions cuts out
3. fails to start sumtimes just dies straight away
4. when left running it struggles to stay at 1000 revs


i thought it could be the icv but where is it? and how much are they to buy?
