there is a fast 'ticking' sound coming from around the inlet. is this from the ICV and if so does it always make that noise? car always stalls now but when you start again it stays on but with same problems.

if you keep the pedal held down it does actually stall. i cleaned my air filter and it seems to have stopped the EM light coming on at 4Krpm but it still comes on under load.

cant do paper clip on X12XE. today after i started i tried to rev it to warm up faster and instead of rising the revs kept dropping, at one point almost stalling till i came off the pedal

regardless of that being the 'automatic choke', it still shouldn't be juddery on start etc.

lmao its the automatic choke coming in...shudnt just get in any car and drive it straight away spec revving high...if u do this in a turbo car it will be bost in months lol...just warm ure car up on idle for 1 minute or so...rev low at first then it will warm up and be normal

This "FI engines don't have chokes" is just pure pedant talk, technically they don't, but it's still called an automatic choke by many.....

quote: A choke is that, a choke. It chokes the engine of air. A ecu just add's more air(opens icv) to make the engine idle higher, making it warm up quicker. They have no choke. [Edited on 25-05-2007 by Vaux Lad]

funny.. everyone said my revs go from 1.1k revs to under 1k because the automatic choke goes after 2 mins

Differant car, but my revs are the same when cold. Blip the throttle and you'll see it drop.

there is a problem when i start the car after it has been left for a while. it starts fine but you can smell petrol outside the car (sometimes inside). |
