corsa c has a problem with the wiring for the dash being slightly too short, jus giv the clocks a push back and should be fine

the garage chap came down & checked the battery. He said the battery was dead, then whispered that the tester could be dead tho!! He also mentioned the starter. Nothing definate tho, until tomorrow, when they'll check it out. As many of you have suggested battery trouble i am hoping this will be the problem. Thanx again everyone.

crankshaft sensor?

my car kept stalling and cutting out without any warning at all, all the lights came up on the dashboard and lost all power.

turned out to be crankshaft sensor

Tighten up the battery terminals...

I also thought immobiliser. It's a Corsa C, so should have one.

My car has an immobiliser, if I haven't turned it off, the car will start, then idle bad and cut out. Then it won't start at all. Sounds like immobiliser could be your problem.

I'd say something like this would have registered a fault, so worth getting it checked by a Tech2 machine, at Vauxhall or decent independent garage.

the starter maybe jammed or the solonoid isnt working.try puttingit in 5th gear and rocking the car back and forward.if that dosent work then try bumping it.

thanx so far. We are presuming the battery is ok as all the lights come on & they are strong. No the engine managemnet light didnt come on. The click can be heard but nothing else in the engine. I am sorry there isnt much to go on! When you put the key in the ignition the dashboard lights come on, but nothing.

Ok, my daughter visit today & coming into the drive the car just cut out. No warning. She thought there was a burning smell when she lifted the bonnet, but its a hot day on a hot engine so not sure! She tried to re-start. Turned the key & all the lights on the dashboard appeared all normal but nothing else happened just a 'click' as she turned the key. Its a Y reg corsa 1.0. It was serviced in jan 07 & had a MOT in March if that helps you. Any ideas?
