Stop being a pussy and take it off with a Scotch wheel. Will take about 30 mins and arch. The floor will take a couple of hours to do.

Or you could burn it off with a blow torch.

You know you can just paint over the under seal and the sone chip though. It wont look mint for long with no stonechip.

yes, its a new build. used to have a lagoon (green i think) coloured one which was in total vaux in the issue that had the white vx220 on the cover. same guy that build my engine built him the high spec 1.4 in it at that time.. now new build will be a let

theres a guy from here getting a nova down in england and i think transport and the dipp and re e coat is around 1500

getting it re e coated doesnt mean it will never rust it just means itll be the best protected. the standard paint has e coat below it so you could expect to have the same life expectancy as a new car again

Because Im an idiot

100% regret doing it now

I saw that someone else had done it & it looked really tidy with the arches all painted up. I wanted mine like that so I started stripping them back

Its much harder than it looks :|

why are you stripping it back anyway? Is the underseal fucked?

jr

Blasting being shot blasted?

How much is that?

jr

posted on 13th May 07 at 16:29

mine, nothing, as i know im either getting it blasted or acid dipped, so it will be mint regardless of the process used

£1500 is a lot of money to spend on something that is basically anal

Might just have to carry on swearing at a scraper for a while as I cut my hands to bits :(

Plus the rear arches look to be the hardest part of the car, lots of lines & grooves & joins etc. Underneath is at least fairly flat, although doing it un my back ight be trickier than I imagine

How far have you got with yours James?

jr

to get it dipped and the ecoated (the stuff they means it will not rust what so ever) is around £1500 i belive

im considering having it done

dont have it dipped, and not coated, as it removed all the paint and wax in the bix sections etc, which unless you have it e coated, you cant get to again to protect it

Whats the company called?

Dan Lewis

After spending a few more hours under the arch of a Corsa Im starting to question wether I really want to do any more scraping. The stonechip/underseal/cunting sealant stuff really is a proper bastard to get off :|

Tried heating it up, which does actually help but there's only so much a Wilkinsons wallpaper scraper can do

So get the little farty bits off I'd imagine I need some form of solvent based liquid....possibly in a milk bottle with a bit of flaming fabric hanging out the top

So anyway, its a cunt.

Flicking through PPC theres a company advertising acid dipping which removes underseal, paint & pretty much anything that isn't metal

Anybody any idea of how much this costs? Because I don't know how much more scraping I've got left in me
