I was under the impression that Mahle ones from standard where forged?

Im just thinking in the long run, if i want more power at a later date, it will be easier if i take these steps now

Mahle ones from Over seas about about £300 (+ Shipping)
Forge ones like Wossener, Accralite etc are £450-500 (inc Shipping)
Second hand sets of standard LET Pistons are about £100
Mvaux are £285 + rings £50 = £335 + £35 shipping = £370 and the worst customer service in the world, plus other Mvaux stuff have been known not to fit.

My Advice if all your after is 280bhp, get some second hand set or a new set of Mahle Pistons

http://cgi.ebay.de/4MAHLE-Schmiede-Kolben-Opel-Calibra-Vectra-TURBO-C20LET_W0QQitemZ110100722989QQcmdZViewItem

399Euro = £271.29 (Plus shipping)

Just out of interest why do you want to change them anyway if all you want is 280bhp?

£800 for pistons? Surely they can't cost that much seeing as it's about £90 for a full set for an XE :o

well hopefully ill be running around 280hp ish. Just wondered if it was worth while doing while the engine was apart in case i wanted more power at a later date

i use mahle 86.5 aliminuim pistons. cr is 8.5/1 or so ime told but havnt worked it out for myself. rods are standed, deseemed and polished. running 300hpish and all seems to be ok. any more than that i would recomended steel rods

Well with the engine ive just bought, i want to replace at least the pistons when i rebuild it. Vauxhall want £800 for a set which tbh is day loght robbery. Im thinking of forged pistons (i have since found out that a LET had Mahle pistons as standard). So i want to know who else makes good forged pistons

Also, if i dont have to i dont want to replace the rods so i want to know what bhp the standard items can take or if i need to uprate them. :)

Depends on what kind of standard your looking for. I think there is a guy on fleebay who sells them as well, I think he imports them from somewhere or other. They seem to be OK.

People say the standard rods can take up to 350bhp - 400bhp, personally I would uprate them at the lower end of the scale.

Where's the cheapest place to buy these for a C20LET. I know of the mvaux website, but im unsure of the quality of them because they seem to be "unbranded" pistons, can anyone vouch for the quality of these as they seem cheap compared to other pistons on th market?

Who else makes forged pistons: So far i can think of Wossener and Accralite

As for rods, how much bhp can the standard ones take? When will i need to uprate them?

thank you please
