i didnt think all the keys came with chips?

Get key from car the engine has come from, open key. Take out chip. Put into your car key.

The transponder chips relate to the ECU. Without the chip, the ECU will not start the car. You can de-code the ECU IIRC. This cost my mate £175 for his LET.

How do I do this?

Use the transponder chip from the key to the car you had the engine out of.

Anyone? Have any of you done the x14xe to x16xe conversion before?

I'm putting a new ECU in the car for the new gsi engine that is going into it...

Does this mean that I will need to get my keys coded for the new ECU? Or will they work without needing to get them coded?

Cheers peeps! :)
