best bet - either check and correct g/box level and live with it (depending on how bad)

or find a second hand box

But get someone to comfirm this first 100%

if it STARTS when you depress the clutch - release bearing

so i dont think replaceing the clutch kit will fix it

how much am i lookin at for the input shaft bearing

input bearing that would be, not clutch

if the noise started when you put your foot ON the clutch then it would be release bearing, or if it stops when you put foot on the clutch its the gearbox bearings (input shaft)

yeah im going on the idea its the release bearing ( also included in the clutch kit )
I decided if im gonna have it all out i want a new one, atleast then i know i wont need a new one anytime soon

30k now, the previous owner killed it abit. Ive got a scratching noise coming from the engine bay, it stops when i depress the clutch. Im narrowing it down to the clutch.

why replace the seals?

just the copper washer( i got it from the dealership in the end ), im gonna drain the oil anyway as i like to do it often with the 106 ( due to the gearbox being made of chocolate).

right i know its for the 106 but i just need some generic advice. So think of it as if its a 1.6 16v gsi.

right, got my clutch kit ready. What else do i need.

Gearbox oil: Whats the best stuff to use?

Seals: ive heard its best to replace the seals so wheres the best place to get them ( apart from dealership ripp off )

Cheers
