A set of bike TBs is roughly same price as carbs.
And i dont really think theres any reason to choose carbs over tb's....

why would you be so primitave! get tb's you gimp!

youll need management, like gotech, could run it off a vacume if tps is an issue, but not sure youll get a good enough vacume off carbs

Article in total vauxhall about fitting R1 carbs to XE engines (small blocks included) if thats any help

Just fit a TPS to the carb spindle.

Map sensor is too hard to do on a multi carb/tb setup.

That's the bit I couldn't understand Rob, it makes perfect sense now

you dont need the eec-iv bit, thats what the megajolt replaces so it becomes mappable.
the only headaches are fitting a 36-1 trigger wheel, and a TPS to the carbs (a MAP sensor would be a nightmare do to no inlet plenum to tap into, meaning you'd have to tap off all 4 inlet runners and then fit a mini plenum to balance it out)

planning to use r6 carbs?

as far as i can understand,

to run the 3d map (much better)
you will need a TPS sensor on the carbs or use the vauxhall MAP senor, to give the ECU a load input so it can work out advance better

the EDIS, well read this
http://www.dainst.com/info/edis/edis.html
basicaly doesnt need a cam sensor like most cars

so your gonna get a x16xe corsa on carbs, should be good :P

I see, so it works like a piggyback system on the Ford EDIS setup?

It just confused me because it seemed to need the EEC-IV bit as well, which As far as I know, is a proper ECU :boggle:

I suppose that's fairly simple anyway, not gonna struggle to find the bits.

Thanks.

It needs ford EDIS parts because the megajolt ecu can't control DISpak ignition coils directly.
It fires them through the EDIS module.

Quite easy to find in a scrapyard tho..

The rest is straightfoward.

MegaSquirt can control DIS directly, but it is more expensive as its able to control fuel too.

X16 :)

I knew about Megajolt, but it got a bit confusing saying it needed basically a FULL ford ignition setup and ecu for it to work

I thought it would be as easy as - crank sensor, trigger wheel, coil, dispack, megajolt, but it seems that you need loads of other stuff too :S

are you feeling a c16xe on carbs by any chance robin?

If you put carbs on a fuel injected, dispack engine, how do you go about sorting a spark?

The engine can't be converted to run a dizzy, so needs to utilise the dispack setup, but I can't work out how you get the ignition timing right :boggle:

If anyone has a clue, or a hunch, go.....
