If u wanna do it correctly, Beardy is correct...

Whichever engine u have *x16xe//c16xe* Ull need the correct Loom for that engine ..

Cos i did an engine swap in my old corsa, first engine was a c16xe always ran in safe mode *Giving the fault code - Knock sensor* ... But it was the loom from a x16xe not a c16 :)

The chip, barrel ring and ecu have to match if i remember rightly.

So you couldn't fit a x16xel engine leaving the x16xe transponder/barrel, as that wont work with the x16xel ecu.

You would need a matched 16xel ecu, chip, immobiliser barrel surround.

Im pretty sure thats right anyway.

C16xe doesn't have that system, so you could fit a c16xe with a simple engine loom and ecu change. Wouldn't need do anything else, just leave the immobiliser stuff disconnected.

so that means...that even with/without the chip and tranponder I already have, the engine still wouldn't start?

As said
- Chip in Ring
- transponder ring around the ignition barrel (which i dont think you need to change as i am sure it only picks up a signal which is sent to the ECU)
- ECU

have to match (not 100% like said weather ring needs doing) otherwise engine will never start, will kick up and cut out after 2 secs flashing ECU light up

im 99% surton that the c16xe doesn't have a immobliser/chips

whats an afm...air flow meter? I've been told that this engine doesn't have an egr valve or something, also the black plastic inlet, not the grey alloy one as seen on x16xe's ect :look:

So would an x16xel loom and ecu work fine on a c16xe engine ok?

As far as i am aware there is no chip in the fuel pump

all i know of is the transponder ring around the ignition barrel

The chip in the key

the ecu

them 3 are all interlinked and you need all 3 to be linked

the transponder ring picks up a signal from the chip in your key and transmits this to the ecu - some how

its all to do with the imobiliser

Hi all,

Got a query regarding the corsa gsi engine ect...

I've been led to believe that the c16xe/x16xe engine's fuel pump had a chip in it, which ws matched to the ECU, chip in the key and the transponder...is this right?

If not, would I have to change the fuel pump, ECU chip and transponde rto match, i.e. one from an x16xel? would I also be right in thinking the x16xel ecu not bring out the full potential of the engine?

many thanks
:)
