I found this auction on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-CAVALIER-CORSA-VECTRA-TIGRA-ALTERNATOR_W0QQitemZ300074941802QQihZ020QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If you look at the list of compatible cars, it shows my Corsa (1.4i 16v) along with Calibra, Vectra, Omega, etc.

Do this mean these model's standard alternator will fit my Corsa???

'5krms amps with 8 runs of 0 gauge down the car!' and you had a 55a alternator LOL. The guys on the audio forums will have a field day with that one! haha. One great way to RAPE an alternator :D.

Thanks for the advice guys! Yeah I'm in the process of upgrading the BIG3 and buying a high-spec battery. I don't think you quite need 0awg, 4awg will suffice.

I am merely looking for a direct replacement alternator, but don't wanna spend much, so was just looking for info on what are my options...

Wheres the cheapest place to buy from (besides eBay)?? Found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-CAVALIER-CORSA-VECTRA-TIGRA-ALTERNATOR_W0QQitemZ300074941802QQihZ020QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300074941802

What do you guys reckon? I also see ones with pumps? And various pin adaptors?

Any advice will be most appreciated!

Before you uprate the alternator what stero equipment are you running? you should not have and lights dimming if you have sufficent powercables and wired correctly .. You need to upgrade the big 3 be fore you do anything eles.

Big three you ask

1, battery earth ( 0 guage cable)
2, Alternater cabling both + and - to 0 gauge cable
3.engine earth

I suggest you do this before doing anything else! i had a 1.4 8v corsa with a 55ah alternator running 2 x 2500rms amps and one yellow top battery and my lights didnt dim at all.

I suggest you look on www.talkaudio.co.uk

the standard corsa battery and alternator is fine anyway, why does it need upgrading?
For ICE probably.

My 1.4 16v had a 55 amp alternator. I replaced it with a 1.6 16v 70 amp one. It stopped my lights dimming so much when i blast my tunes.

Hi guys,

I'm new here. :) I want to upgrade the alternator on my P reg Corsa GLS 1.4i 16v (5 door, with PAS, electric front windows).

The easiest way will be to get a Vauxhall alternator, but of higher amp rating. My Hayes manual states that a Corsa B can come with a 55a, 70a or 100a alternator (depending on model), by Bosch or Delco-Remy. I presume my Corsa has either 55a or 70a, I had a look under the bonnet but can't see any markings, it doesn't look like a Bosch though.

Can anyone advise as to what part numbers I should look for? I want the very highest rating alternator that will bolt straight on without any mods.

How easy is to to replace an alternator, time taken, etc? How much would a garage charge for doing it??

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)
