The conections on the other side of the connector inside the MFD unit are notoriously dodgy.
Ive got through 3 in my corsa in a year: 1 down to changing the bulbs (as in your case). Another when i disconnected it to change the heater panel lamps and the last one just packed up for no reason.

Unless your good with soldering its probably your best bet to get a new MFD unit for around a fiver off ebay or someone on here

i took out my mfd to see what type of bulbs it would need to change it to blue leds but now it wont work all the time it flashes on and then when i let go of it it goes off:( although it isnt in its proper housing atm i think is something to do with the wires in the connector plug can anyone help thanks ;)
