Or you can get the transponder system erased from the ecu for about £200.

not really an issue, you just need the chip inside the key, the receiver in the steering column and the ECU all from the same car.

Anyone else know how the transponder causes issues and how to solve them?

its the transponder that causes the problems, would need this removed somehow i think. egr shouldnt cause problems as it can be blanked off

Yeah the only problem is i already have a x16xe and i was pretty sure that id need a multipoint injection nova.
What are the wiring issues in this conversion?

can use original nova shaftes and mounts, go for an sri/gte/gsi as robyn said then the fuel pump and tank doesnt need changing.
also try and source a C16XE as there is no transponder etc on them much easier to wire in.

if you use a C16XE take off the powersteering and use the nova (sri/gte/gsi) alternator, the alternator bracket and the bottom pulley.
this allowys you to use the original v belt, some say the alternator fouls the chassis leg if using the original C16XE setup, also if you do this and take off the power steering a shorter belt needs to be sourced.

so best advise really is to go for C16XE much easier option in the long run not only due to wiring issues.

Obviously it's easier to do to a Nova with multi point fuel injection, like a GSi/SRi.

Rob_Lee is the man to ask, or dhdev.

Im contemplating putting my x16xe engine into a nova for trackdays and the like. Just wondering how compatible the engine will be with the car?
I mean what sort of splicing will i need to do to the loom and does the transponder cause issues? Is there a particular nova that will be easier to work with?
I know the engine will fit just wondering how much work is involved?
Any advice will be helpful.
