This normally happens when it is damp. The shoes stick to the drums. Try WD40ing where the handbrake cable goes through the plastic directors on the back axle.

lmao @ M2RTY. yeah i left it in gear with the handbrake OFF overnight and it was ok this morning, Everyone who has had this problem follow what i did you'll be fine. will update you if i find any other ways :D

take rear wheel off and whack the drum with a mallet.......worked on 2 of mine

Mine did the same after driving in torrential rain, also Dad's Transit used to do it - it's handbrake related, something sticking.

its got an old handbrake cable and it is sticking. failing this- the pads are sticking in the drums!

ive got myself a '97 corsa, and recently ive noticed that its kind of playing up! i put it in reverse handbrake down and go off my drive but when i put the accelorator pedal down from standing still over night it makes a loud CLUNK noise as liek ive ran something over but i havent any ideas???:boggle:
