klkl cheers 4 the advice mate. sounds like a gd plan. wat turbo would be best to use? can parts of the let engines be used? also could the engine and box handle that sort of increase?

tbh depending on the level of tune, I'd get the NE and turbo it... 200bhp out of the box pretty much with management & various other bits...

for cams & mild tuning, SEH, but you will be limited on what you can do tbh, such as carbs or tb's

ok so its the seh were after then. how tunable are these engines but still keeping reliability?

Sri16v will be C20XE up until M-reg, and then should be X20XE

SRI 8v can be either the above engines depending on age and designation...

those starting without a C will be pre-cat requirement engines (so before 1989)

The SEH is the SRI engine usually. 20NE is usually found in the more normal ones, GLS models etc.

thanks mate. wat engine is usually found in the cav sri's then or is all of them? was hoping to get around the 150 - 160bhp mark if thats possible without to many problems?

You can buy conversion kits from Lmf Vauxhall

If you dont have Power Steering:

If you do:

20SEH - 130bhp
20SER - 124bhp (later ones produced 130bhp)
20SE/C20SE - 122bhp
20NE/C20NE - 115bhp

C20NE rods can go upto about 220 to 240bhp before greeting the road, C20XE rods with ARP's can go 290 to 320bhp...

NE rods will rev to 7000rpm, XE rods to 8000rpm...

thats if you want to tune it too...

cheers 4 that mate. so will still need 2 get custom mounts, driveshafts and hubs? or can these be used from the donor car? also any more info on the turbo'd 8valves is it an aftermarket kit or parts used from other vauxhalls?

Not all 2.0 8v are 130 BHP, but the ones out of Cav SRI's are. The conversion won't be much easier than an XE as your still removing a smallish engine and fitting a considerably bigger one. So you will still go through most of the same processes.

You will have a fair bit more room around the top end though as obviously its single cam.

hi there. on this website there seems to be lots of talk about people doing the 16v redtop conversions. i was wondering what is the 8valve engine out of the cavalier sri's like and they any easier to fit than the redtop ones?
