It senses oxygen in the exhaust system, and then sends a signal to ecu for it to change the fuel/air mix until its correct.

They can go and give false readings.
Usual signs are overfueling, bad fuel comsumption etc.

is it true that the lambda sensor go a lot of vauxhall?
i have a 1995 corsa b sri 1.4 16v and it not running well wot does the lamder sensor do. how can i tell if my lambda sensor is not wotking right on my car i have had it tested and there was no Fault Code. do u think it could b the lambda sensor i was told they go on Vauxhall alot
