and the fan should cut in at around 98 anyway, if it doesnt it could be a fan switch problem.

airlock is my first guess, run the engine on idle with the coolant cap off the bottle. when it gets hot put the blowers on in the car (on hot) let it get hot, up to about 100 degrees until it bubbles over from the coolant bottle for about 20 secs.

have a strange problem with a 1.6 sport. i think its air in the cooling system, but id value your opinions. right, sometimes, not all the time, when driving the car the temp guage will suddenly rise to 100, from the 90 that it normally sits at. it may stay at this for a short while, and then drop back. it does this going back and forth . the heating in the car has also stopped geting hot, which again leads me to believe that the system may need bleeding. it just seems funny that the temp can rise and fall for no apparent reason. isnt really overlly afected by speed either 9 iew doesnt heat up when at a standstill) . what do you think? also, if it does need bleeding, any one got a procedure for it? cheers, chris. |
