It isnt a carb. The idle control valve probably needs cleaning.

i got a corsa trip. 1.2 8V on a 1998 plate..... still sticky at times but not every time

Apart from stripping the carb down as its probably caked in shoot,you could buy a can of carb cleaner and spray it on the carb around the throttle housing.
