I think you should too rileysport ;)

I'll take it out for another run tonight see what happens!

yes such a book will be purchased, my carbs came off a running 20xe so it shouldn't be far out anyway... and i have J100RSA (or rather his dad) to set them up if need be ;) Let me know how you get on fella

precisely, I couldn't even get it down the road without it cutting out! I'll have a look for a guide and ask some people, i basically need to get it running better thatn it is to be able to drive it somewhere and get it done properly.

^^ Problem is - if the car won't drive properly, it's gonna be hard to get it somewhere to set them up :|

Just put your hand in your pocket and get them set up properly on a rolling road!

Yeh deffo sounds too rich - as Dave A said - get one of those lambda sensors that connect to a air / fuel meter and see what you can do

What type of carbs are they? weber 45's? I'm sure there's loads of guides on tweaking / setting up carbs online - google it mate.

My dad's MG runs on carbs. Only problem is they sometimes lose their setup and need to be re tweaked.

i'll check the spark plugs tomorrow, see how black they are. Plooms of black smoke were coming from the exhaust when i revved it aswell.

Anyone know which is the main mixture screw on the carbs??

sounds like its bogging down and fouling the plugs up on idle..... common problem lol!

carbs are a bitch to set up. had twin 40's on an xr2 a few years back. get a lambda guage (air fuel thingy) makes setting them up a lot easier!

you say your battery is dead? could that not make it run rough? if not carbs are quite cool to fettle with, been messing around with some bike carbs at work

Well it cut out about 5 times and because the battery is flat I had to get my dad to jump start it again each time!

Its running real shit, not sure why. Idles ok if i just leave it but when i go to rev it when its been sat idling it'll try and cut out. Now this to me seems like overfueling?

Don't really have a clue how to go about adjusting the mixture either. I think i'll do a google search, bound to be somthing about setting up carbs!

But hey....it drives atleast! :D
