is it definately a petrol smell?
did you convert it or buy it converted?

there's a breather tube at the rear of the cam cover that originally goes to the throttle body, but many people vent them to atmos, and this can create an oily vapour smell that you might be getting?

Leaking petrol tank? Although probaby not if it only happens when idling?

Check the fuel lines attached to the manifold, they could be leaking.

hi iv'e got a 2lt red top engine in my corsa the problem is that when the car is sat idling or iv'e been out in it and turn it off there's a strong smell of petrol and i'm wondering if if it's running to rich, if anyone can shed any light on the problem would be appreciated thanks.:o
