in the key, you have a little black chip
on the ignition barrel, you have a little black ring

if you have a 1.6 ECU, you need the matching chip and ring, otherwise they will not work

Right been trying to do a bit of research but im totally hopeless at this shit, i found the transponder in my current key and would i be right in sayin that i would only need another transponder from a car the ecu is from if i changed my ecu for 4 a 1.6 ecu?:boggle:

Cool cool, cheers for all the info guys, hopefully i will be able to decide soon on wat engine to go for. i.e. another 1.4 16v or a 1.6 16v or the allmighty 2.0 16v

you need the ECU, key chip and transponder from an X16XE car

right so i will need a transponder out of the car and the keys for the car? im a bit confused to how these transponder things work to be honest i just thot it would be a case of engine out, engine in, plug it in and booya its done. Getting a garage to do it anyway, ecu shouldnt be too hard to come by i dont think. If anyone else can think of anyhting else please post, cheers guys. P.S. Hey dez

can anyone list the different parts you would need for the 1.4 to the 1.6 :)

dont bother with the X14 head, its got smaller ports, so you'll be making an X16XEL

just put the X16XE in and lob the X14XE in the bin

getting a whole new X16XE engine have got a whole X14XE engine with a newly skimmed head but the oil pump is fucked, hence new engine.

have you just got the bottom end of the x16

the x14 head will fit straight on so will the gearbox.

same fittings but not sure if they are trhe same ratio or top speed.

Hey guys and girls, just wondering if some1 out there could help me out? I have a 1998 corsa with a 1.4 sport engine(X14XE) and i have had no end of problems with it so iv decided to purchase a 1.6 sport engine(X16XE), was just wondeing will it go straight into place without having to get a different gearbox, ecu etc? Also would bits like cylinder head and timing belt fit onto the X16XE engine from thje X14XE engine? Cheers guys and girls.
