I've got a 1.0 12v engine for sale if you'd be interested in swapping it with your Auntie's poxy 1.2....??

Granted, its had a few bits taken off it, but it runs MINT! :o

Can a faulty EGR valve cause the car to stall?

Cheers,

Just checked it out then, know where it is now.

Gonna have to get it replaced now and hope it cures the stalling.

Can a faulty EGR valve cause the car to stall?

Yeah they do have them.

Egr valve is located on the inlet manifold just in front of the injection unit. looks like a black box with electrical connection on the top of it.

hmm not sure if the c12nz does have the egr system. i dont have a haynes handy so i cant double check at the moment. if it does have the egr valve it will be on the throttle body housing.

My auntie's car keeps stalling on her everynow and then.

The car is not overheating and appears to be running fine - When its running!

Anyway,

When it stalls it throws up the ECU light. She says if she turns the ignition on and off it then starts again and is usually fine after that. Its done it 3 times now in total over the period of a month.

I have read the ECU fault code and it has come back as code 47 - which is the EGR valve by my recolection.

I wasn't even aware they had them on the early 8v engines.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Do you know where the EGR valve is - i have changed these on the newer 16v ecotec engines but as i said not sure if this car even has one?

Any help would grately be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig
