Is the resistance from the front or the back of the car?

Do you park with your handbrake on at night?

If so, try leaving it overnight parked in reverse with the handbrake off.

If the symptom dissappears then it's just your shoes sticking to your drums during the night with a little surface corrosion and is nothing to worry about.

If it still does it, and it's coming from the front rather than the back, you might have a problem with the reverse idler in the gearbox.

its likely to be the rear shoes binding on the drums. common problem when its cold and damp, my drums, shoes and cylinders are only 5000 miles old and they do this every morning.

nothing to worry about.

For the money, might as well change them.

About £14 each I think.

The exact same problem as mine.
Its happened twice now.
It doesnt do it every night... once every few weeks - could it be to do with the climate?

It feels like theres a yellow pages under one of the rear wheels!! then like its popped!

Bit confused with you explantion but, it could be your rear brake cylinders sticking.

This explains the overnight, time to stick. And loud popping noise, which is as the cylinders release.
