if your car is older than 5 years id say u wudnt be able to do it, oiling it overnight helps, but just like u after searching i found tool but just wudnt come off. Took it to a garage they took the top nuts off...then decided to fit the front springs for me for £20 :)

Ok your talking about the top nut on the front suspension. I just took the suspension strut out and used an impact gun to get the nut off once the spring was compressed. Also you could use a set of mole grips on the strut itself to stop the whole thing spinning.

you need to hold the shaft with another spanner hence a socket wont work.

Im sure i just used a normal spanner and a socket the other side. Does it make any difference if you turn the wheel?
