hi my 97 1.4 16v sport has been leaking oil quite badly so got it steam cleaned underneath and took it a local small garage they said its probably the seal and gasket in the oil pump and the head gasket they didn't do a compression test on it though i could see it leaking my self though lower than the rocker cover gasket at the front of the engine on the right hand side they quoted me a rough price of about £400 does that sound right?:boggle: would it be cheaper 2 put a new 1.6 16v engine in? is it a straight swap? i was also thinking about puting either a 1.5td from a corsa or 1.7td from a cavalier lump in or is that 2 expensive because it a diesel? they have the benefit of lasting longer than petrol engines but they are noiseier.:boggle::(;)
