i had tht problem on my car not so long ago, i took it to perrys and it was the mfd, i went dwn scrappy and got anotha one for £15, now its fine, it was due to pins coming lose in the back, only thing tht was different was tht it didnt reset itself whilst turning off and on, the mfd just came on wen the lights were turned on!

Sounds like the wire has been cut and wired back up wrong and is now getting a witched live instead of a perm one.

no, other one is knackered anyway, so not really much chance there! I have a feeling it is the unit, as tonight, it was ok when dipped beam was on, didn't flash, but still lost its memory when the lights are turned off

you might have pulled on the wires that go from the stereo wiring loom upto the MFD, so it could be a case of making sure the wiring loom is connected correctly on the back of the MFD.

Reset itself as in lost the date?

I fitted a new headunit in my Corsa B on Saturday, and had a bit of trouble fitting all the wiring back in to the DIN slot, as the last owner has fitted a Nokia Car Kit, so there is a lot more wire than normal!
Before I fitted the new headunit, the MFD worked fine, but now it doesn't. I know the date will disappear anyway, but now the MFD does not come on at all when the ignition is on, unless I have lights on.
If I switch on sidelights, the MFD comes on as it should. However, when I switch on dipped beam, it flashes rapidly, all across the display. If I put the sidelights on and set the time, but then turn all lights off and back on, the display has reset itself.
Any ideas?
