All corsa engines are intereference engines. But was going to say sounds just like the llug on the rotor arm!

well thankfully it was just a bit of plastic that connects the distributor rod to the crank shaft, £7 sorted her out (Y)

i can also confirm x16xe is not valve safe, as the last owner of my car had not changed the cambelt. It broke on her, so she had vauxhall fit a brand new engine :) as all 16 valves were bent! by the way the cost of vauxhall supplying and fitting a new engine is £1750!! :!

can you actually turn the rotor over manually & have you removed the cambelt cover to check the belt if it is there??

where can i find the c12nz type model number on the engine???, what else could it be if the rotor arm spins easily??? we presumed it was timing belt asit does'nt spark when turning over, checked with a timing strobe, ne ideas??

quote: depending on RPM when the belt goes, but I have seen various 1.2 & 1.4 (including my old 1.4 8v) engine get damaged valves from as little as 2kRPM

if all you did was stall it & the timing belt is fine, then there is no reason why it should of got damaged valves??

I can confirm the X14 XE is not safe...took out 12 valves at low rpm when the cambelt went

might have been, depends on how the engine stopped and RPM at the time. i know the c14se runs much closer than most 8v's, i am not sure about the rest!
