could also be a dodgy earth. had this prob with almost every vauxhall ive owned. if you have got a multimeter check for continuity on every earth you can find. usually the ones under the dash!

if you can get a hold of a voltmeter its easy to check yourself. just put both probes onto the battery and check the reading with the engine idling and no leccy loads on. should be puttin out no less than 13.5v then put the loads on headlights heated rear window etc. if it drops below 13v your alternator is pumped. also repeat the test holding the revs at around 2000rpm you should get between 13.5 and 14.5v

My 1.2 16v used to do this with the PAS etc. But I never sorted it before I traded it in. Sorry, not much use

Hello!

I have a 1.2 16v ecotec corsa, these have no seperate alternator belt, as some of you will know the aux belt of the crank drives the alternator and the top pulley that drives the chain.

My lights dim when my radio is on quite loud, plus when i put the rear window heater on, anything that pulls alot of power basically.

The aux belt isnt slipping i dont think else i'd have other problems? Is it likely to be a dodgy battery or alternator or something else?

Thanks peeps
