TBH the 8V wouldnt even be worth the hassle.
if ur gunna upgrade the least should be the 1.4 16v but id recomend the 16 instead more tuning capabitlties for when you adjust to the extra power

I'd have to agree on the last part, pointless goin to a 1.4 8v, they're still slow, the 16v is a lot better. Conversions are a lot of hassle so you wanna make sure its gonna be worth it.

there isnt much between the 8v and 16v theres like 7-8bhp for the 16v...

but its an easier swap for the 8v sri..

ive driven both and id be happy enough with the sri 8v

1.2 8v - 45 bhp
1.4 8v SRi - 82 bhp

for the money you can get the SRi lump for i'd say its worth it :|

16 v lump into there would also be just as easy to be honest, but the 8v lump is a cracker for what it is

if you dont have a vaux immob
i'e a rounded style key with a chip in it
or take off the steering shroud and around the ignition barrel see if there is a back sqaure box with a wiring plug and it then has a ring part that goes round the ignition
if that isnt there then you dont have a immob

if thats that case then look for a engine that also does not have a immob

nowt wron with the old 8v engines. i got some good bhp out of a 1600 8v nova gsi engine about 5 years ago on twin 40's

ive looked into tuning the c14se engine and there quite alot you can do with them, ive got 4-1 manifold, decat, enlarged throttle bodie and inlet and chip. there not all fitted yet but im hoping for around 95-100 BHP when its all setup.

120 BHP is possible with the above twin carbs and a new cam, just depends on the cash you have to spend.

there also very strong engines

thanks people!

redtop you talk shit as adam and ed pointed out! Make sure you are right before chatting shit!

so edd as my car doesn't have an immob do i have to worry? or will it be a problem if the sri engine did have a immob?

You are either very ignorant or stupid. I will assume the latter.

your the peenarse gobshite
the sri came in 8 and 16v format
then went to the sport

8v engine is perfectly tunable "see this month tv mag" carbs etc

anyway

if you have a 5 speed gearbox then all you need is engine, fuel pump, engine loom and ecu
also check out if you have a vaux immob and if the donor engine has a vaux immob
if it does thenyou will need the donor engine immob ring and chip out of the ley
