mine drinks a lot of petrol too. probobly around 50 miles to a tenner normal driving.

what sort of revs are people at sitting at, at 70 in 5th? mines between 3500-4000 rpm. im sure its not normal. :boggle:

my 1400 sport drinks bad as well.

and yes, it does need revving hard to get it moving, trying going anywhere at 1500rpm and it doesn't happen, have to keep it around the 3-4.5k mark normal driving.

also guess the close ratio gear box is as much help to mpg as a chocolate fireguard

id say the xe in me corsa sri is more economical than the 1400 16v that was originally in there. i very rarely have to fill it up with petrol whereas i was for ever filling the 1400 up id seemed

one thing ppl are not remembering is petrol is 95p a litre, it has shot up alot in such a short space of time, so the amount of petrol for 10 quid compared to while ago ur getting 3rd less for ur money than year or 2 ago.

also xe only claims 30mpg anyway and 25odd for urban so its not best on fuel, only way to test ur fuel econemy is to top the car up fully and then see what u get u cant measure it buy putting 5-10 quids in.

most ppl have moved from 1.2/1.4 upto xe and expect same fuel consumption, well sorry but performance dont come free..............

Your saying your ecu light is on because of a nackered tps and wondering why your fuel comsumption is bad? Its not rocket science to work out why is it?

i used to get 100miles to £10 in the Buckets (2lt 16v on Carbs 200bhp)

it prob cos your putting your foot down alot to hear the induction noise.....

Nic Barnes

i really wish i was joking, but i put £30 in before we set off, then on the way back put another 15 quid in just past manchester. sat at 90mph pretty much all way there and back.

it just seems to use no petrol at all for some reason. i can get to crail race all day then put a tenne in and get all the way home with petrol to spare.

i get 60 to £10 if i drive like a granny, if i drive my normal stylee i get about 40-50 to a tenner. thought i was alone lol.

Dave A

its probably because of the tps fault! the tps may be giving false readings to say that the throttle is always further open than it actually is, and that will cause it to run rich. therefore use more fuel. i had a faulty tps on by tb'd x16xe recently, drank 10 litres of fuel whilst idling for 20 mins!
