also unlikely to be the starter. as the car is starting fine.

do the dash lights light up when it stalls? if not, the ecu might not have a good earth or a poor power supply.

engine management light comoing on?

its more likely to be electrical, fuel pump shorting out or a bad earth etc...

i aint taking a wild guess you know:| when i got my corsa at first and it had a 1.28v engine it would regularly cut out at junctions and take an age to start back up and also had a strong smell of fuel off it when it did and no eml light on the dash to give me a clue of whats wrong...

replaced the CTS and bobs yer uncle... it worked perfect... so mneaaaaa:P

without sounding stupid, but do you have a reason to change this sensor?

Siberia - my speedo works fine and when it does konk out the engine will turn over.

VegasPhil - i have replaced my battery, and i was told by an autoelectrcian it wont last the winter and was only £20 to change. will give that ago for now.

also been told could be coil or the distrabutor internals not the cap.

is you speedo working? does the engine turn over when when you turn the key?

someone saying its your ignition system really does narrow it down:o might aswell be just telling the engine is broke

If you've had a test done on the ignition system don't waste your money if it's alright!

Anything odd. Interior lights coming on? etc. Blown Fuses?

EML been present at all or has it just been stalling?

i have recently broken down twice and on both times i called RAC, guy got me going first time, 2nd time i was told my igniation system is working fine, producing perfect sparks, battery is fine and alternator is charging, so then he said next thing to check is the fuel system, he said my fuel pump needed replacing, so after asking a few people i changed my fuel pump, how cheap are they by the way :o.

since fitting that i drove it for 2 days before i went away with work for a week, came back and drove for 4 days, now this eveing i was out driving and the car stalled again, doing what it did the first time, stalled in 2 gear going about 20mph from traffic lights, called my dads friend out. he said its either my starter motor or alternator, also would recommend i got a new battery anyway for the winter, as mines pretty old.

has anyone got ay suggestions, i think ill get the battery 2morro a hevy duty one, also might get a starter motor as there cheap enough to replace.

thanks for reading, if you made it till the end lol
