Right but to be able to use an MP3 player you need to have an aux in, number of preouts has nothing to do with it

i have 2 preout's on my stereo...

one for sub and one for components...

im thinking of buying the nano...
will i loose any quality by using an mp3 player?

the way i look at it...by having a nano in the car it will avoid all the clutter of cd's

how is it awful? Is it connected to the aux in on your headunit? You will need to turn any bass settings ect on your mp3 player down and up the volume on your headunit.

This is what you need

It just converts the headphone output on your mp3 player to the connections suitable for aux in on a headunit. These dont connect to the preouts.
