it was whistling this morning and when it stopped my engine management light came on

Its the secondary air pump...i was told that all it does is pump fresh air into ther exhaust manifold to keep the emissions down while on the choke (some european legislations)...i'm i'll be corrected if this isnt right.

as far as it not working, it can be removed along with the small plastic pipe work. just blank the ends up but make sure you leave the secondary solenoid valve connected or it will throw a fault up.
