cheers, is this more than likely to be the case rather than a busted steering rack?

...with power steering. what area of dinero am i looking at?
my car failed its MOT cos of play in the wheel or something, but i have just read that play in the wheel is more than likely due to something else other than the rack if the steering rack isnt leaking. sposidly theres no leaking... so what can cause this 'play'...and do u think i need a new rack if it isnt leaking :boggle:
