what about when there is nowhere to connect a gauge? like on the regulator like mine?

fuel pressure needs to be read on the regulator itself.

a fpr works by acting as a 'tap' and the more it is shut i.e the higher the pressure reading, the more backpressure there is on the rail and pushes more fuel through faster as the injectors open. (richens the mixture)

hope this helps:thumbs:

after doing a bit more looking aorund on the internet, the fuel pressure needs to either be read from the fuel going into the fuel rail XXX's above or on the valve that is situated on the fuel rail??

oh, should add, I have adjusted the fpr not by much but have a little, (as I want to get it back to how it was)

if not then its unlikely to be that. the one in your pic looks like a webber on, which are very reliable.

check your coolant temp sensor, it might be causing a fault and causing it to not come out of cold start mode, or throttle position switch and lambda.

look on www.topbuzz.co.uk to find out how to test these sensors.

that sounds very probable, as the car has started running colder than it used to, when driving it would run at 90 now its more like 86-87

thanks for this it helps a lot :D to get things straight LoL, the pressure where the XXX's are is where it should be 3 bar?

it was running slightly rich, but it is starting to get a lot worse,

Dave A

has it always run rich, or did it just start one day?

Need some help on connecting a fuel pressure gauge. does it go in the fuel line from the fpr or does it go in the valve on the fuel rail?? also from a search pressure needs to be 3 bar?? without vaccum??

Just wanna get a bit up2 speed on this fuel pressure situation LoL

as i've got a proper pressure guage for this now, and im also getting it looked at properly, but just want an understanding really LoL

generally the lower the pressure the leaner the mixture? obviously it cant be too lean, but i need it to be less rich,

and i want a pressure of about 2.5 bar?

its reads to 100 psi i know fuel pressure is about 40psi ish, so you reckon i wud be able to use the oil pressure sender in the fuel line then?

Dave A

what are the readings on the oil pressure gague?

Will an Oil Pressure Guage work for fuel? or are the senders different?
