if you want one or have one fit it if you want, or otherwise dont. up to you.

as ed says, nobody seems to bother with them

No one uses them. Astra 2.0's aren't even spec'd with them standard... The oil cools in the sump perfectly happily...

is it not worth getting one just as a precaution?

Nope. The only reason why they were spec'd on Cavaliers is they were meant to have a plastic belly pan under the engine bay so the oil wouldn't cool in the sump as efficiently.

so not worth it then, is only gonna be standard XE, and daily use to work etc

No there's loads of room. The std cooler is fine, no need for a bigger one. As said for normal cars (road) and moderate track use then no need really.

If you are planning on trackdays or similar Id fit one, for road use and regular changes it should be fine without.

you dont really need it on an xe in a corsa, really. ive got a cally one on the let corsa, had t cut and make pipes to pipe it up.

on the xe ive got the 8v oil filter adapter off a car that doesnt have the oil cooler, early 2.0 8v's etc, can buy em from vauxhall for couple of quid, oil filter screws right into the oil pump then, no sandwich plate for oil cooler.

up to you though, i dont have one on my xe corsa and its no problems at all
