common prob on no modded XE's if you hammering them around tight bends i read up. you'll often see a puff of smoke if the breather mod isnt done.

That baffle is mainly to stop the oil from foaming up around the crankshaft and rods...

Cheers guys - it may be a tad too much oil actually. Always keep it right at the max or a little over with having a leaky sump, just incase one day it starts to leak more than the norm.

Nothing you can do about it really, the engine is pretty 'simple' on the insides so stuff like that happens. You either put up with it, fit a catch tank and/or have baffles welded into the sump to stop the oil sloshing about so much...

normally happens when oil is too full....

Is this normal then? If not any idea's why its happeneing to me? Oil level is fine, I have a leaky sump anyhow so its checked & topped slightly every few hundred miles.

But you are right, there are no baffles in the sump.

Or get some fins welded into your sump. Or get a dry sump :o

Just wondered if some of the engine bofs knew whats wrong with my C20XE lump. I've noticed that its burning oil on high revs coming out of tight bends. I have a theory that the sump might not be baffled, therfore the oil is swooshing about and somehow getting pulled upto the head and burnt? Anyone else any idea's? |
