so just out of curiosity, what happens if you put the exhaust cam from an X16XE into an X14XE??? if you can put the X16XE cams into an X16XEL then it will work wont it?

corsa808, intersting stuff about the different cylinder heads on the XEL :)

and you could always gas-flow the head if you have lots of money, will make up for the ports being smaller

well the exhaust cam and ports in the head are smaller on the x16xel. this will give slightly better tourque but less max power. about 98bhp.

i would use the cams out of the blown x16xe. will be roughly the same then. port sizes are a minimal difference tbh.

So wot .... im lookin at GSi ecotec basically ?? arund 105bhp ???

The head from the X14XE has smaller inlet and outlet ports and the exhaust cam has a lower duration and valve lift than the exhaust cam in the X16XE.

The cams in the X16XE have the same duration and lift as eachother, whereas the the inlet cam in the X14XE head has higher duration and lift than exhaust cam.

The reason the X16XEL (XELower Power) that comes in astra's/vectra's has a lower output than the X16XE found in corsa's/tigra's (both engines are 1.6 ecotec) is because it uses the cylinder head from the X14XE (and a different inlet manifold design).

So, smaller ports, different exhaust cam. These are the only 2 differences.
