try the easy things first...

Reset ECU (unplug battery for a minute)

if that fails....

Clean things like MAF, ICV with carb cleaner

Too much air going through the mass airflow meter causes high idle in my 1.6.

I find that if I've been flooring it in 1-3 I get high idle. Turn the engine of for about 10 seconds and turn back on again and it clears.

I was told by a shop that it was a common fault, and not to worry about it.

Are you using heavy aceleration in 1st, and 2nd? Induction kit, or standard airbox?
