I'm not plannig tuning the 1.4 as it'll cost so much which to get decent gains. my mates is 1.4 16v running just shy of 150 and its cost nearly 5K. I was thinking on the lines of a 1.6 16V on tb's as there decent lively engines and it'll go straight in and save messing with the engine bay. Doing inteior next which i'm planning stripped rear, cage, front recliners and rear strut brace. Not too fussed with ice.

Depending on how much you're budgeting for, in the long term also, I'd say throw a 1.6 16v lump in and bang it on some tb's. Would be more different than a 2.0 turbo aswell, as theres a few about these days.

So far, all in, i reckon engine work on mine stands me in at about 2 - 2.5k, but ive made a bit back on selling odds n sods from old parts.

I'd say put a 1.6 on tb's.

I will be doing most of the work myself and dont want to have to give up and end up paying any companys as it'll cost too much. I'd love a turbo and didn't want a 2.0 turbo as its possibly too much for the roads round mine

if you ant it to handle well and set good times then a 1.6 16v on tb's with cams and a decent set up will do you well, strip the car out aswell....

Tb's are good fun, but expensive.

There are a lot of out the box cars that are easily as quick as a tb'd 1.4 corsa, so as sad as it is to say, its better to go for one of those if you just want the performance. If you want the project and all that then go for it.

so you just want a turbo for the tissssh dont you:rolleyes:

spending the money turbing a x14xe just isn't worth it. no matter what you sy about wanting to be different you will regret it in the end. when people with a tuned 1.6 or 2l or 2l turbo are pissing all over you.

It depends whether your just after being different or power.

Power = LET it
different = 1.6 Turbo

I've been all around the houses with my Corsa's had 20XE, V6, GSI stage 2, 1.6 16v, 1.4 16v and decided that my LET is the best.

Thought I would be wasting money doing a 1.6 Turbo as I wanted power

Anything less than a deathtrap just isn't fun enough :lol:

lee mitchell on here will do a drive in drive out conversion for around £1500ish I think for a 20XE

Tbh, a 2.0 Turbo is a bit too much in a corsa, and is going to be a deathtrap IMO :P

'hey mr dbillas.. they dont have euro's here..

take out a currency converter and calculate it into pounds :)

You should better do a 2 liter conversion and save money.

A turbo kit wil cost you about 2000 euros with only a T2 turbo in it. And you need atleast a T25 or T3 to get some power out of it.
(And a lot of money!!)

A 2litre conversion wil set you back about 1500 euros I think.

No reason for increased unreliability of a 1.6 16v turbo if the conversion is done properly and you put the right money into the right places. That will require a bit of thought and cash though.

You need low compression and a highly uprated cooling system to do any turbo conversion. If you get those two things right then you will have a reliable engine.

Trying to do something different. Thats all im thinking. I do want reliability tho. That is a majour thing as i use the car every day. MY mate has a 1.4 8V turbo and his is pretty reliable. What probs do the 16V's have if you no please. Will be doing the work myself so dont want owt going wrong. I'll av to work out a few figures and see what will be best.

One or two 1.6 turbos kicking about, reliability is a major issue though.

Consider 1.6 16v, or 2.0 16V on throttle bodies instead of turbo route too...

Hi there gays and gals. I'm pretty new to this site so go easy on me. Just a couple of quick ones.
I'm considdering a engine convertion but still unsure what i'd like.
If i was to fit a 2.0turbo is there a kit out there that allows me to fit the engine and not do any body mods (chopping bulkhead and bits). I no you have to strengthen engine bay, thats no prob.
Also how many 1.6 16V turbo's do people no of. Thanks for looking :wave:
