i have a gearbox made of blotting paper too, my street is covered in a vauxhall sponsored oil slick of doom :lol:

i took the alloy sump off mine... its totally fooked, cracks all over it especially on the mating surfaces and round the sump plug :(

Get a tap to clean the threads out, use thread lock, and 6lb/ft.

Did you use a torque wrench??

Over tightening the sump wont' ensure it won't leak, can be the reverse. Just do as the haynes tells you

I have fitted a new gasket on my sump and when tightening back up the lugs where the holes are just snapped off on some and now oils pissing every where...

When i get a new sump how do i aviod this...
