i had a similar problem and it turned out all the connections in my fuse box had gone green as the car was once stood a long time. cleaned all the connections up and it was fine after that

You're not getting damp onto the ECU are you? mine did this, was running down the loom into the footwell. Kept chucking all sorts of fault codes at me.

what could be up with the loom?

but even before it was disconnected, i did get alot of random fault codes, thats why i have loads of new sensors, i gave up after a while coz the codes where staying there!!

have you re-set your ECU?? If its buggered, it normally knows it and has a fault code for a fucked ECU, as I had this :( . Disconnect you battery for an hour or so, should reset the ECU.

Take it to a local ECU test centre andget them to run a diag on it's £40, could also be the loom though mind.

My Fault codes!!!

12-Initiation of diagnosis.
85-Immobiliser Wrong signal
43-Primary ignition (distributor systems) High voltage
84-Immobiliser No signal
56-Air control soleniod Low voltage
63-63 Amplifier control signal, cylinders 2 and 3 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) Low voltage
64-64 Amplifier control signal, cylinders 1 and 4 (Direct Ignition System (DIS)) Low voltage
29-Fuel pump relay Low voltage
92-Camshaft sensor Faulty hall effect sensor or circuit
93-Quad drive module (in ECU)
35-Idle stepper motor Poor or no idle speed control
19-Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) Incorrect RPM signal
34-Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor Low voltage
15- Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) High voltage

now is it me or is it very unlikly that they have all broke? considering i have bought BRAND NEW sensors - CTS,CAS,CSS, i think i need to get an ECU :(
