Check all the wires from the alternator are intact.

If the light is going off on the dash once you have started the engine then the alternator is probably working fine, 90% on that.

The ground strap is a must, there isnt a good earth through the bolts for the alt to the block, you defo need a strap.

If this still doesnt work, the voltage regulator may be packed in or a contact gone inside the alt

maybe the warning light on the unit aint on properly... il check that tomorrow... thats the most likely suspect as to why the light aint on.

il also make up a strap tomorrow.

ok mate, well not sure why u dont have a battery light coming on tbh - do you get any other problems with the xe conversion relating to warning lights??

i know its not charging for sure.... im almost positive its meant to have an earth strap from the adjusting slider to the block where the slider sits on..

it must be that, im just puzzled as to why not light is on....

well i dont know about the xe tbh but im pretty sure theres meant to be an earth strap...if not u can check the alternator by looking at the voltage across the battery under load e.g with headlights on etc

yeah i kinda thought that but would that effect the charging of the unit... possibly... im not sure..
