this is very true... i'm up to a litre a week:lol: oil p!ssing out of the crankcase breather pipe dont help either:o

i'd say more than likely its the c16xe.... best way to check is to open the engine compartment and see it it has the EGR crap..

Actually the C16XE and X16XE both made an appearance in the GSi. 1993 to late 1994 got the C16XE, then the X16XE from then onwards until the GSi was dropped in 1995. Sport re-appeared in 1997 with X16XE.
To tell the difference, C16XE will have VAUXHALL written across the rocker cover, and have black plastic trim over inlet manifold. X16XE has ECOTEC written across, and ceramic grey/white over inlet.

the easy way to tell the engines apart is:

pre-ecotec - C16XE - has a black plastic inlet manifold
ecotec - x16xe - has a silver metal inlet manifold

yeah i think if its got ecotec written on it, its an X16. Think the EGR valve is on the X16, but no idea wot that is 2 be honest, i'm just goin on what i've read on here !!! I could be talking a load of bull !!!

I believe all GSIs are pre-ecotec and then when it became the 1.6 Sport it was an ecotec engine (x16xe) but i could be wrong

i just brought a m reg corsa gsi thanks to those who told me what to look for it looked good

so what model egine is it
